F. O. O. D. - Forgotten Orchestra of Dreamland
…is
a musical ensemble of varying size, usually made up of six or seven musicians.
It incorporates related arts in its performance, mixing elements of dance
theatre with cinematography and/or visual arts. The Orchestra is dedicated to
improvising; there are no stylistic boundaries or limits, but for the most part,
the music tends to go in the direction of jazz, classical music, rock, sound
experiment, and ethnic music.
The Forgotten Orchestra of Dreamland, a collective of musicians and
artists that focus on improvised and eclectic music, was founded in 1992 by JK,
his brother Michal and Marek Sebelka. F.O.OD. includes a variety of musicians
and musical genres. F.O.OD. first performed in the summer of 1992 at an
International Symposium Hermit at a monastery in Plasy, and has been performing
on a regular basis at the Theatre Rubin in Prague.

P.S. A word on the name of our group:
The "Dreamland" or better "The Land of Dreamers" is an
English translation of the title of one very phantasmagoric bookwritten by the
Czech-Austrian painter and writer Alfred Kubin. He was born in the northwest
territory of Bohemia but lived with his wife in Austria. In his 30s he wrote the
book titled "Die Andere seite" which dealt primarily with Bohemia and
the Bohmer forest (Sumava), which he often traveled through. The name of our
group is about a fine translation of this book, about the romantic although dark
face of Bohemia.
